Essential Functions

The ACUHO-I Residence Life Intern at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will play a key role in the residence life team, contributing to various projects aligned with personal interests and departmental needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with departmental assessment report-out documents, which will include analyzing a variety of quantitative and qualitative data, summarizing this information, and providing an executive summary of each
  • Conduct a variety of peer institution comparisons concerning rent charges, conduct appeals processes, resident assistant compensation, programming models, and more
  • Review departmental reports and recommend changes - analyze and summarize RA end-of-year reports and present findings/make suggestions to departmental leaders regarding the RA experience
  • Design resources for on-campus students regarding various topics.
  • Develop training materials for Resident Advisors for the current and future terms
  • Review departmental procedures, forms, and processes to provide feedback on potential areas of improvement or optimization


The internship provides professional development opportunities such as gaining insight into higher education at a metropolitan university, networking with professionals, understanding public-private partnerships in residence life, and engaging with senior administrators at UNO. This experience offers valuable skills for a career in higher education.

Work Schedule
30 hours per week for 8 weeks during summer session, ideally mid/late-May 2025 through mid /late July 2025

Additional Duties

Required Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's program with at least one academic year completed in a university setting
  • Interest in the field of Student Affairs and student support services
  • Ability to work for the entire 8-week contract period


Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a graduate program in Higher Education, Counseling, Communications, or another closely related field
  • Experience in program evaluation or assessment
  • Experience in programming and community building in a college setting
  • Previous experience in Housing and Residence Life

Salary
$3200 Total - Monthly stipend of $1,600 (pre-tax)
